Brain Age

Brain Age is definitely a bit of a quandary. On one hand, it is not a game in the traditional sense. There are no princesses to save, no aliens to shoot, and no evil knight to slay. However, the same part of a gamer’s brain that causes them to replay the same game repeatedly for a higher score or faster time is very much lit up by Brain Age. Gamers who hated school may now find themselves doing twenty math problems over and over again to try and get the best completion time. Of course, Brain Age was not created to be a game, but a brain trainer program. The idea is for players to do a brain age check once a day to keep their brain in top shape, as they strive for the ultimate brain age of twenty. Read more

Lost Magic

The Nintendo DS is quickly becoming synonymous with the word innovation. Lost Magic, Taito’s latest effort, continues the trend. Lost Magic is a successful and unique real-time strategy role-playing game. Unfortunately, the game does not have enough RTS elements to please the hardcore strategy fans, nor does it have enough RPG mechanics to please all of the hardcore RPG players who are always looking for the “next Final Fantasy.” Read more

Splinter Cell Essentials

Since Splinter Cell games have been developed on virtually every platform, you can imagine my delight when the PSP version was released. The PSP is far superior than the Gameboy DS in terms of technology and features, but lacks a library of games. Like many games, Splinter Cell Essentials show promise at first, but loses steam.
