Liberty City Stories was a difficult game to review. On the one hand, it’s Grand Theft Auto; the gameplay, graphics, and overall storyline were instantly familiar, allowing me to jump right in. Problem is, all those strengths are weaknesses as well. If you’ve played GTA 3, Vice City, or San Andreas, then you’ve already played Liberty City Stories. So, for 20 bucks, is it even worth your while? Read more
Forbidden Siren 2
August 28, 2006 by PTD Contributor · Leave a Comment
Back in 2004, Forbidden Siren caused waves across the world of horror gaming. Set in an isolated Japanese community, the game mixed aliens with strange religious practices, an otherworldly dimension, psychic powers, and the zombie-like shibito to create a genuinely spooky game. Read more

Cars

Conventional Wisdom would say that the major console release of Cars should be a terrible game. After all, video games made from a movie license are notorious for being boring and uninspired. On top of that, Cars is also a game targeted at kids. Like movie based games, kids’ games are also known for their general level of mediocrity. Surprisingly, Cars rises above the stereotypical expectations set before it. Cars is both a good movie license game and a good kids’ game. Unfortunately, Cars is not a great game. Read more
Battlefield 2: Armored Fury

I’ve long since gotten used to the injustice of paying more than $30 dead presidents for an expansion pack. Oh, I don’t like it one bit, mind you, but every now and then, you find an add-on pack that’s worth the money. It’s rare, but it can happen. Stay with me, this story has a point. You see, a little while back, when I heard about the release of the first Battlefield 2 “booster pack”, Special Forces, I’ll admit I grunted with annoyance. “Oh great,” I remember thinking, “I’m going to end up paying $35 or more for a few more tanks and maybe a handful of maps. This will suck.” Read more
Armored Core: Last Raven
August 22, 2006 by PTD Contributor · Leave a Comment
The Armored Core series has been adding a new title every year since the debut of the PlayStation2. Add a couple of games during the PS1 era and you get a series that rivals the core Final Fantasy series, but cannot equal its merit. Armored Core games have become so exclusive that Last Raven never attempts to be accessible to newcomers — this game was made for the faithful and no one else was invited. Read more

Some of you may have played Tringo on Second Life. This clever mix of tetris and bingo seems to have the site’s visitors coming back for more. Since Tringo was created by a resident of Second Life, when people started playing it, businesses noticed. Crave Entertainment was the lucky winner of the rights, which they immediately crammed into a GBA cartridge. Read more
