Stripped of its spot-on visuals and excellent sports commentary, MLB 2K7 would only be a technically sound game. Amazingly, when those things are thrown back into the mix, the game goes from simply being the player’s seasonal scheduled purchase of a baseball sim to a purchase of one of the greatest baseball games that has ever been made! No, the game is not perfect. It does have its flaws, but the level of immersion attained while playing is second to none. Read more

PopCap releases Bejeweled for iPhone users.

PopCap Games announced today that they’ve released a free version of Bejeweled for the iPhone. The version is based on the Safari browser, and accessible simply by pointing your iPhone browser to www.popcap.com.

Guitar Hero 2

It’s hard to imagine what social gaming was like before the Guitar Hero series transformed our drunken gaming evenings. Did we really sit down and get things ready for some hectic one-on-one action at Street Fighter 2, when we could have just strummed a plastic guitar? After Guitar Hero caused masses of us to repeatedly throw the horns on the PS2, the inevitable sequel unsurprisingly became a multi-million seller. Undoubtedly you can still spot that tacky looking plastic guitar adorning a hefty number of living rooms. Read more

Spider-Man 3

Film tie-ins are a mixed bunch. Spider-Man 3 has plenty of action and plot available to draw from, which should have made it a good game. Sadly none of that relates to the gameplay, which is eerily reminiscent of last year’s Christmas Turkey, Superman Returns. Read more
