Is the motion-controlled Xbox 360 add-on real?

Kotaku recently did a piece with comments from Microsoft, Rare, and Gyration about the “Newton” motion sensing controller that is rumoured to be in the works for the Xbox 360. Interestingly while Movea Inc. (the parent company of Gyration since January) flat out denied involvement with the project, another motion control company – Motus – seemed a little more open to the idea and even has a product (Darwin – pictured below) on the market.

Microsoft’s Aaron Greenburg offered some interesting comments regarding how he views the Xbox 360’s position in the market and how it is affected by the Wii. An interesting tidbit came through here: “If [gamers] are only going to buy one system, we feel like we offer the complete experience.” In addition, while an anonymous source within Rare wouldn’t make much on the rumours, they did comment that, “We’ve gone away and invented a game mechanic that’s never been in any game before, regarding the upcoming release of Banjo 3.

Commence removing pencils, paper, and Pictionary from your life. LOL.

The Agetec published ‘LOL‘ is a Nintendo DS project thought up by Kenichi Nishi. His portfolio includes games such as ‘Moon’ on the PlayStation, and both ‘Giftopia’ and ‘Chibi Robo’ on the GameCube. With LOL, Nishi and four others volunteered their free time to completing the project without a budget.

The game is strictly multiplayer and uses the DS’ single card download play so only one copy of the game is needed. A topic is selected by the host and everyone writes or draws whatever. When that stage is complete everyone votes three times for the funniest/best contribution and the winner is revealed. For more information, check out the website.

LOL will be available for purchase on May 30 for $19.99 and be sure to watch for the highly anticipated scrabble-killer ROFLMAO – spell it out and win the game!
