Sony Sells 4 PS3s in Europe

During today’s PlayStation Day event, SCEE CEO David Reeves announced that Sony’s PlayStation 3 has outsold the Xbox 360 in the European market.

According to Reeves, Sony has moved a total of 5 million PS3s in Europe, out-pacing sales of the similar game console from Microsoft. Sony also announced movement of 12 million PSP units as well as a total of 48 million PS2s consoles.

Being no fool, Reeves didn’t make any mention of Nintendo Wii sales in Europe.

Take Two to Chicago: “Whaaa”

May 6, 2008 by Lorien Faulkner · Leave a Comment

The Chicago Transit Authority, the company that brought the windy city classic traffic management titles like Traffic Lights and Asphalt Highway, is being sued by Grand Theft Auto publisher Take Two.

Take Two is accusing the CTA of pulling GTA:IV branded advertisements a mere days after they went up. According to Reuters, the Transit Authority decided to pull the adverts after an editorial piece ran on the local Fox affiliate station. Fair and Balanced, unless you’re an evil video game company.

Our take? There would be far less lawyers and their ilk roaming about if people would pay attention to crap in the first place. Was is not someone’s job to approve these adverts in the first place? Stupid lawyers.

Midway Reports 1st Quarter Losses

May 6, 2008 by Lorien Faulkner · Leave a Comment

It’s that time of year again, compatriots — quarterly results from all our favorite public video game companies. We’ll be compiling a feature for boring business details, but until we do you’ll be getting them in little shots of net profit/loss love.

Midway announced an exceptional net loss of some few millions, and a forward looking statement suggesting that they’ll lose more money in the immediate future. Someone in the accounting department can explain what it all means at the end of the day.

After David Zucker left the CEO position earlier this year, this money drain doesn’t come as a surprise. We only hope someone can right this ship before it goes down with all hands.

… and welcome back!

We’re still conjiggering the new site, so feel free to complain about things not working. Oh wait, we’ve not fixed the comments yet, so looks like you’re out of luck. Muhahahahahahahaha.

We’ll get everything up and running in the next day or so, right after a round or four of Team Fortress 2. In the mean time, enjoy this hot chick that’s mad at her computer or whatever.
