Song Summoner

December 1, 2008 by Dan Orlowitz · Leave a Comment

With a standard Square Enix story of lost siblings, adventure and redemption, along with standard Square Enix-style art, and more-or-less standard Square Enix game mechanics, one might normally pass over Song Summoners if it were on sale for a console. What makes it unique, and worth the $4.99 download, is that SS is a fully-featured RPG game that can be played on your iPod Classic or Nano. Read more

Stop Internet Usage Caps

I remember when I heard that the new Ratchet and Clank game was going to see release via the Playstation Store. I eagerly anticipated the day that it would see release, and when that day finally came, I quickly purchased it and background downloaded it. While the game itself was worth the purchase, downloading the game took a very, very long time. Read more

Fallout 3 - The First Hour

November 18, 2008 by Matt Callaghan · Leave a Comment

My first impression from playing Fallout 3 is simply put in one word: WOW! Its a truly brilliant game and does justice to its predecessors in the Fallout series. I was a little skeptical at first, thinking that this would just be an “Oblivion with Guns” type of game, but all my fears were laid to rest almost immediately as I started up the game. Read more

ActRaiser

I’m going to go out on a limb right now and say that I’m not a religious person. With that being said, ActRaiser is one of the coolest games I’ve ever played, not only on the Super Nintendo but on any system, ever. Despite its very religious overtones and storyline, you’ll find a solid game rich with quality graphics, streamline gameplay and an interesting story. Read more

People love talking about games that don’t exist.

Consider that 11 years later people still talk about Duke Nukem Forever as if it were a real game.  Some credulous souls still speak about the RPG Grimoire as if it will ever be released.  Or consider the ironically-named Phantom game console, an idea that seemed to have begun as forum speculation. There’s no media like no media

The very first tape recorder I saw being used was a reel-to-reel tape recorder that belonged to a friend of the family. The first tape player I used regularly was an 8-track system in my friend’s ’68 Dodge Charger. When I got my Mustang, it came equipped with the very latest in media, a cassette tape player and a couple of in dash speakers about the same diameter as a baseball. Incredible! Read more

Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition

September 23, 2008 by Jordan Knudson · Leave a Comment

Grab your dice and get ready to roll! Dungeons & Dragons 4th edition has arrived. Don’t forget the Mountain Dew and cheese balls. (I hate the guy who shows up and never brings anything.) Wizards of the Coast has finally released this much anticipated update, with a whole new system that has changed everything from the classes to the monsters you face. The combat system is much faster, and the social and skill systems have been revised. Read more
