I've observed that several highly ranked players have used these fleets of hundreds of battlecruisers to attack me (plus the one guy who used a single death star).
I find it interesting that they:
a) choose battlecruisers over some other ships (battleships, bombers, destroyers, etc.)
b) never send along any cargos or light fighters or anything.
This is weird because battleships are a little stronger in attack and can hold more cargo than a battlecruiser, their defense is a little weaker, but not much. Destroyers are much stronger in both attack and defense with larger cargo holds (but it costs much more to build).
The only difference that really goes in the battlecruiser's favor is fuel usage: The battlecruiser uses half the fuel of a battleship and a fourth of the fuel of a bomber or destroyer. Perhaps when it comes to moving a fleet of 200+ large ships, that difference in fuel economy adds up, and makes it a much better deal to use battlecruisers over the others.
Amazing - even in OGame people are trying to “go green” and save of fuel.
