August is finally here, and in Oklahoma that can mean only mean one thing: wave after wave of unrelenting heat. We’d usually use August as a chance to remind our readers of the fabulous advances in air-conditioning technology, but it’s really too hot for us to think. Let’s play videogames all night instead.

Here’s the skinny: starting on August 29th, PTD Magazine will be hosting a monthly LAN Party for gamers in the Oklahoma City metro. Readers in Tulsa are invited too, although we’re working on a separate venue for T-town to be hosted in the near future. We’ve got space for 200 people, but we’re going to ramp up to that number over the course of a couple months. We’ve got 100 seats available in August.

We’ll provide all the space (at the Wiley Post Airport), power (from the wall outlet), and snacks (from the kitchen) you’ll need to get your game on. You’ll provide your computer (from you car) and twelve dollars (from your wallet). We’ll combined all these great things into one weekend of 24-hour gaming complete with tournaments, prizes, and other various forms of skulduggery.

The games start at 12:00(noon) on Friday the 29th and run until 12:00(noon) on Saturday the 30th. We know you people have real jobs, so we’re not expecting the lot of you to post at noon. We’ll keep the registration desk open all night, although we ask that once your computer comes in it stays until you’re ready to leave.

We’ve got a waiver for you to fill out at the door which you’ll be able to download on this page in the next few days. Readers under the age of 18 will need their guardian’s written approval in advance. Spawn Camper tickets are available at a two dollar discount until a week before the event, so make sure you buy your tickets early this time. General admission tickets are available the week before the event for $12.00 which we’ll take it in the form of a secure credit card transaction or via Paypal. Tickets at the door will run $14.00 this month.

We'll be having four tournaments this month, two for the console gamers and two for the PC gamers. Our first thoughts are SSBB for the Nintendo Wii and SoulCalibur IV for the 360/PS3. For the PC gamers, we can go old school with a Blizzard RTS or kick it up a notch with something like Team Fotress 2 of COD4.

Let us know what you want to play and we'll finalize the schedule.

For RTS go WCIII and for Xbox 360 we need COD4 like you said and BattleField Bad Company. That game is amazing.

THose are my suggestions. I'm heading to Frag Fest!

Thanks to everyone who came out for the Frag Fest, we had over 30 gamers crammed into one spot. Keep your browsers tuned here for more information on upcoming events, as well as our sponsored gaming team competitions.

We'll have some photo's up on the official wrap soon. We did just wake up.
