August is finally here, and in Oklahoma that can mean only mean one thing: wave after wave of unrelenting heat. We¡¯d usually use August as a chance to remind our readers of the fabulous advances in air-conditioning technology, but it¡¯s really too hot for us to think. Let¡¯s play videogames all night instead.
Here¡¯s the skinny: starting on August 29th, PTD Magazine will be hosting a monthly LAN Party for gamers in the Oklahoma City metro. Readers in Tulsa are invited too, although we¡¯re working on a separate venue for T-town to be hosted in the near future. We¡¯ve got space for 200 people, but we¡¯re going to ramp up to that number over the course of a couple months. We¡¯ve got 100 seats available in August.
We¡¯ll provide all the space (at the Wiley Post Airport), power (from the wall outlet), and snacks (from the kitchen) you¡¯ll need to get your game on. You¡¯ll provide your computer (from you car) and twelve dollars (from your wallet). We¡¯ll combined all these great things into one weekend of 24-hour gaming complete with tournaments, prizes, and other various forms of skulduggery.
The games start at 12:00(noon) on Friday the 29th and run until 12:00(noon) on Saturday the 30th. We know you people have real jobs, so we¡¯re not expecting the lot of you to post at noon. We¡¯ll keep the registration desk open all night, although we ask that once your computer comes in it stays until you¡¯re ready to leave.
We¡¯ve got a waiver for you to fill out at the door which you¡¯ll be able to download on this page in the next few days. Readers under the age of 18 will need their guardian¡¯s written approval in advance. Spawn Camper tickets are available at a two dollar discount until a week before the event, so make sure you buy your tickets early this time. General admission tickets are available the week before the event for $12.00 which we¡¯ll take it in the form of a secure credit card transaction or via Paypal. Tickets at the door will run $14.00 this month.
