Guild Wars: Nightfall

I never really got stuck on World of Warcraft, as those who know me can atest. I played it for a while, got bored, logged off, paid for it for months, and then got pissed off at Blizzard for not canceling my account. The Guild Wars games appeal to me in a lot of ways, one being that I appreciate the no monthly fees approach. Not that I’m very sensitive about that but still.

The latest chapter in the series, Guild Wars Nightfall, is indeed a great game. The graphics are good, music is great, voice acting is decent, system is easy to use, and I felt at home from the start. In this game, we get to visit the Land of the Golden Sun, which paints a somewhat Arabic picture for us. It’s not an Aladdin rip off or anything, but the influences are clearly there. That’s fine by me and fine by the vast amount of Dervish and Paragon players, the two new professions. As always, when an expansion or a new game in a series is released with new professions and races, everyone wants to play them.

Just one thing before I close up. Playing Guild Wars Nightfall is a breeze, but your gameplay experience depends on who you play it with, just like any other online game.

That aside, I enjoyed Guild Wars Nightfall so much that I’ve bought both the original Guild Wars (nowadays titled Prophesies) and Guild Wars Factions to get the most out of my experience. I’ve also hooked up with some decent people that I play with which helps a lot.

Great online game, no fees, that’s what you need to know. Go get it!
