Sarah’s Emergency Room opens it’s doors to Arkansas hospital, coming soon to a console or PC near you.

It’s time to play word association. I’ll go first. Portugal. Nintendo. Arkansas. No, sorry it is not porcupines. Granted, I think porcupines are great, and their relative the hedgehog has become rather famous in the gaming industry. However, time management and every console or mode of play out there that GAMEINVEST is keen to gamble on.

Has it been done to death? Cutesy character rapid fire rushing through their day to complete an onslaught of tasks to gain rewards and further their career, all for what? And yet, how can we resist Sarah’s Emergency Room where we are treated to every redneck delight imaginable? And as I contemplate this games creation, I have to ask where it came from. Somewhere either someone had to be native to Arkansas or one of it’s neighboring states to be able to give it a nod, therefore comfortable giving it a lighthearted teasing.

No matter the nature of the roots of Sarah’s Emergency Room, I am looking forward to endless hours of laughter as I help Sarah further her career in each Arkansas hospital, treating cases that are bound to have you rolling until you sides split with laughter. Don’t forget your purpose, though, is to hurry up and treat all your patients as fast as you may, promptly and courteously, with no mishaps. Oops, I think Dr. Ben Tooth forgot his drill, you might want to return it to him so he can extract that tooth from patient Jane Doe.

Girls get a new generation of baby doll to play with, à la Nintendo DS

Nobilis, the French publication company, has released their My Baby duo, including My Baby Boy and My Baby Girl, for the Nintendo DS to several countries which has been met with tremendous success. My initial protest with the My Baby game concept is that while they appear to be marketed to younger market, the game is a life sim, incorporating aspects of daily living in raising a baby from birth up. This initially grated all over my nerves, after all, aren’t young people having children far too young these days? It appeared an awful lot like they were encouraging children that having babies was not a bad thing at all.

As I was preparing to protest, thinking of my lovely ten year old daughter who would, no doubt, love this game, I realized, why shouldn’t she play e-dollies? Didn’t I play with baby dolls when I was growing up? Isn’t My Baby Girl or My Baby Boy simply an electronic extension of the baby dolls I grew up with? If only I could have had a DS version when I was ten! How much cooler would that have been, and something I could have truly embraced instead of pretending to be a girly girl, maybe then I could have embraced having been the girly geek that I truly am.

The added plus to My Baby Girl/Boy is this digital baby at least costs far less on pampers and formula and hopefully will teach the younger generation some of the ins and outs of parenting, which frankly, this world needs. So, as I look at all the benefits of this cutesy little game, I cannot help but think that gaming industry, with the help of Nobilis, has just stepped up and taken a stand that not many would take in a way that makes learning how to parent fun. What I realized was that young people choose to have babies young because of their own stubborn choices, not because of a game. Hopefully, parents are around to help the kids make wise choices, because kids can’t teach babies how to grow up healthy and strong.

Tick. Tock. Is your DS ready for it?

July 2, 2008 by ibaker · Leave a Comment

The clock. The ticking, which sounds exactly like the ticking when you start up your beloved, classic Chrono Trigger game. The gears are grinding slowly though surely to remind us that Chrono Trigger, our beloved classic is getting a make over.

As with all announcements of such vast importance, and what can be more important than Chrono Trigger coming to the DS, comes great speculation. Already the holiday release date has been tainted by those ne’er do wells who wish to claim that this may well be just a port of the original, suggesting we might just be buying the original all over again in a new cartridge for convenient DS play. With such grouchiness as this it is almost enough to make you wonder if these grumpalumpagus‘ actually believe in the Christmas Spirit!

Either way, it is time to break our your happy dance, make certain you have a stash of your favorite stylus, plenty of time off of work, because Square Enix has never failed us yet. At least not with Chrono. Besides the clock is ticking. Incessantly. Something amazing has got to be coming out of this!

Hotel Giant gets renovated, total transformation

Get ready to remodel your hotels as Nobilis releases Hotel Giant 2 for the PC and the Nintendo DS at the end of 2008.  To succeed as a 5-Star tourism industry mogul you will need to keep your guests happy by getting to know their moods, activities, and behaviors.  Building the finest hotels in the world might be a challenge for some, but you have it all mapped out.  Finding out what the consumer likes and, worse, dislikes about your hospitality is just the beginning of great fun in this adaptation of the original.

Whether you played the original Hotel Giant or not you will love the new content and features that have been added.  With the additional option of playing on the DS, Hotel Giant 2 has become essentially portable.  No more waiting until you are back at your computer to play.

Enlight Software definitely will get 5-Star accomodations for renovating this Giant for us.  On the DS, game play will be treated to full stylus control and intuitive navigation.  With amenties such as these waiting for us, who wouldn’t be waiting to pick up their copy?  Hotel Giant 2 can be yours with just a short wait through summer heat and falling leaves.

Paradise gets a regal facelift

Paradise for the PC had its highs and its lows. Ultimately, it was a very frustrating game. Last King of Africa is being published by Focus Home Interactive, in agreement with White Birds, coming out on Nintendo DS and is the best Paradise had to offer, in a more streamlined storyline.

Rethinking everything about Paradise, Benoit Sokal, created refreshing changes in the entire make up of the game that will be released at the end of this year. Utilizing all of the function capacity of the DS, Last King of Africa facilitates comprehension by simplifying dialogs. The radical changes in the relationships between the principal characters are also something to look forward to as well.

If you did not like Paradise, I strongly recommend putting Last King in Africa on your tracking list for release dates. If you did love Paradise, they did nothing but improve it, so you will definitely want this baby in your collection. So, until it comes out, happy waiting.
