OKC Frag Fest heats up August

August is finally here, and in Oklahoma that can mean only mean one thing: wave after wave of unrelenting heat. We’d usually use it as a chance to remind our readers of the fabulous advances in air-conditioning technology, but it’s really too hot for us to think. Let’s play videogames all night instead. PTD Magazine brings the LAN Party to OKC.

July 9, 2008 by Lorien Faulkner · Leave a Comment

After publishing our third issue of PTD Magazine in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, the staff decided that we needed to take this lovely relationship to the next step. In the gaming world that mean bringing the games to you, and by bringing the games to you we really mean you bringing the games to our LAN Party. Have we confused you yet?

Here’s the skinny: starting on July 25th, PTD Magazine will be hosting a monthly LAN Party for gamers in the Oklahoma City metro. Readers in Tulsa are invited too, although we’re working on a separate venue for T-town to be hosted in the near future. We’ve got space for 200 people, but we’re going to ramp up to that number over the course of a couple months. We’ve got 60 seats available in July.

We’ll provide all the space (at the Wiley Post Airport), power (from the wall outlet), and snacks (from the kitchen) you’ll need to get your game on. You’ll provide your computer (from you car) and twelve dollars (from your wallet). We’ll combined all these great things into one weekend of 24-hour gaming complete with tournaments, prizes, and other various forms of skulduggery.

The games start at 12:00(noon) on Friday the 25th and run until 12:00(noon) on Saturday the 26th. We know you people have real jobs, so we’re not expecting the lot of you to post at noon. We’ll keep the registration desk open all night, although we ask that once your computer comes in it stays until you’re ready to leave.

We’ve got a waiver for you to fill out at the door which you’ll be able to download on this page in the next few days. Readers under the age of 18 will need their guardian’s written approval in advance. Tickets are $12.00 dollars, and we’ll take it in the form of a secure credit card transaction or via Paypal. To get signed up, use the orange button below to take you to the registration page.

We’ll be taking all questions in our forum thread, as well as posting the games we’ll be hosting and the times of the tournaments. If you haven’t signed up for our forums, now would be a good time to do that.

DIRECTIONS TO THE CLARENCE E PAGE BUILDING
Apparently since our venue is located on the airport it doesn’t have a proper city address. Here’s the link in google maps if you want that format.

Heading south on Rockwell from Northwest Expressway, you’ll pass Wilshire and 63rd St.

Take a right on Tulakes Ave and follow it toward the airport tower.

The Clarence E Page bulding is a one-story white brick building with a black awning and tons of parking on your left. It will be the first left you can make off of Tulakes. The building has the name in large letters on the side facing Rockwell.

We’ll see you at the Frag Fest!
