For the young, Sonic may be an effervescent fount of youth, never able to die, akin, maybe to that handsome superhero that girls swoon over, except you never worry about him losing his looks with age.

Coming out in the Spring of 2009, Sonic and the Black Knight, is the second of the Storybook Series. Sonic and the Secret Rings reprises the classic tale Arabian Nights. The intensity with which the stories are geared into overstating literature in these new Sonic tales, is almost revolting, and as a huge literature fan, I am almost ashamed to admit that. One might ask, how much is too much, and carry on to the next greatest adventure. After all, there is always some other priceless gem in our classic gaming repertoire that we can carefully dust out of the archives and horribly mismatch with, say, Harry Potter.

Sarah’s Emergency Room opens it’s doors to Arkansas hospital, coming soon to a console or PC near you.

It’s time to play word association. I’ll go first. Portugal. Nintendo. Arkansas. No, sorry it is not porcupines. Granted, I think porcupines are great, and their relative the hedgehog has become rather famous in the gaming industry. However, time management and every console or mode of play out there that GAMEINVEST is keen to gamble on.

Has it been done to death? Cutesy character rapid fire rushing through their day to complete an onslaught of tasks to gain rewards and further their career, all for what? And yet, how can we resist Sarah’s Emergency Room where we are treated to every redneck delight imaginable? And as I contemplate this games creation, I have to ask where it came from. Somewhere either someone had to be native to Arkansas or one of it’s neighboring states to be able to give it a nod, therefore comfortable giving it a lighthearted teasing.

No matter the nature of the roots of Sarah’s Emergency Room, I am looking forward to endless hours of laughter as I help Sarah further her career in each Arkansas hospital, treating cases that are bound to have you rolling until you sides split with laughter. Don’t forget your purpose, though, is to hurry up and treat all your patients as fast as you may, promptly and courteously, with no mishaps. Oops, I think Dr. Ben Tooth forgot his drill, you might want to return it to him so he can extract that tooth from patient Jane Doe.

Chocobo is ready to break out, Opening night in 11 days!

Eleven days and counting until Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Dungeon releases its feathers to float on the wings of the Wii-mote in the US winds.  Cid and Chocobo encounter a town called Lostime where the people believe the key to happiness is forgetting everything.  Every time the clock tower chimes, ding, their dismal memories and even aggressive impulses are forgotten.

Sadness, dreariness and even anger is a thing of the past, until a young lad named Raffaello stumbles into Lostime.  Of course, Raffaello intercedes and helps the townspeople create dungeons out of their memories.  Soon the puzzle pieces fall together and they are able to find out why are not able to remember things.

That however is for you to find out dear reader, and thus embark on hours of enjoyment with our dear friend Chocobo.  So go, join the countdown.  Set your watches.  Our feathered friend will wait for us.  Until then, Team Fortress 2 will suffice, or mindless casual gaming of some sort.

Wii goes to bat and X-OOM’s into a homerun!

The Wii has just become even more fun than ever.  When you need a break from gaming, you can stream music from your PC using X-OOM Media Center.  Music, videos, and photos are all able to be transferred to your Wii with this new interactive media hub.

Instead of requiring bothersome USB drives, CD’s or memory cards, with X-OOM, once the software is installed on the PC you may wirelessly share your media files with the Wii.  Another feature to look forward to is the ability to browse the internet.  X-OOM allows access to over 1000 digital radio and TV channels, as well as podcast support, RSS feeds, YouTube, and Google Video.

Navigation and installation promises to be very simple.  With the Wii adding so many features like these to their product, I begin to wonder what they could possibly come out with next to top it?  A teleportation device to reduce gas prices?  Okay that is stretching a bit, however, the X-OOM Media Center will allow you to have music anywhere in the house you want it, provided you have a Wii there.  How cool is that?

The Wii never had such a puzzling dilemma

Everyone has that mischievous side that is waiting to be let out of the closet and Safecracker lets that wild side run free for a tremendous purpose.  Dreamcatcher Games teams up with JoWooD Productions to bring a Wii entertainment that will have puzzle enthusiasts raving.

Already popular on the PC, Safecracker revolves around a storyline where you are an expert safecracker hired to search for the last will and testament of a recently deceased billionaire.  The will was hidden by the eccentric Duncan W. Adams in one of his 35 safes.

Inspiring to anyone who has a passion for puzzles and sluething skills, with maybe a touch of the daredevil flair, you won’t want to miss this game as it comes out in the fall.  For the avid gamer leaning towards a tendancy to RPG’s and first person shooters, this game is a great adventure for the whole family and is sure to get the entire clan, from the smallest member, bonding by incorporating the entire members in searching for the clues.  Your adventure is as simple as cracking a few safes.  Child’s play.

Gyrostarr is finally here!  Monday, June 23, 2008, anyone who has a Wii can download this sci-fi shooter from the WiiWare downloadable service.  High Voltage has done their homework on this enthralling.

With 50 levels designed to keep you on your toes, this game is a must have.  Taking advantage of the Quantum 3 Game Engine technology, players will dodging obstacles, shooting enemies, and collecting upgrades on a futuristic looking track.

Designed to be reminiscent of coin-op style gaming with a modern flare, Gyrostarr has more than met those expectations with is capability of multi-player status.  Who could ask for more that full steam ahead play than adding one to three friends into the picture competing for high scores.  I am on the edge of my seat waiting for this one.

Master Higgins comes out to play

June 20, 2008 by ibaker · Leave a Comment

Master Higgins as some call him, though he probably prefers to be called by his given name, Toshiyuki Takahashi, will be making his first appearance in the US in 20 years. Toshiyuki Takahashi plans to support the release of the Wii’s DECA SPORTS at GameStop’s Tournament store in San Jose, California.

Toshiyuki Takahashi, was appointed “Master” in 2006 by Hudson Entertainment, has been a vital part of the company since 1982. If you do not remember the Adventure Island series, in which his self-based character launched his fame, I recommend digging it up, blowing the dust off of it, and taking it for a whirl. It will bring back a sense of nostalgia that sink you into a love affair with classic gaming all over again. Just surface long enough to bring your wive’s or girlfriend’s flowers once in a while, otherwise they might realize that gaming really is more important than them.

The tournament is on a first come, first serve basis, so if you are in the San Jose area, check it out. For the rest of us, Toshiyuki makes appearances periodically in Japan as well as on his popular blog, 16Shot. As for DECA SPORTS, it is guaranteed to get your blood pumping, and what hardcore gamer couldn’t use just a wii bit more exercise.
